The airport in Vancouver has on display some of the world's finest art by famous Northwest Coast aboriginal artists .... like these Salish house posts in the International arrivals hall....
These poles were so nice...I wish I could take them back to Japan with me!
I also thought that this ring was really nice, too.
If you look carefully... you can see that the ring is set on stone and that there is water falling behind it...
The images on this ring are traditional and they represent flight.
The eagle, which is considered a symbol of power, is designed around the image of men whose arms are raised.
These men on the ring are welcoming visitors to Vancouver.
If you look on the men's chests ... you can see images of salmon.
The salmon represent the Coast Salish people who still live and fish in Vancouver.
Beautiful, isn't it?
