Vancouver ... Day 5

Well...Today is December 26th
Boxing Day

What a beautiful day for shopping!!!

I still don't know what I want to buy....
Almost every shop in Vancouver has a sale on today ... Lots of good deals and cheap prices everywhere...
We decided to go shopping with my parents and the first place that they took us was ....

Walmart....Well...Not much to get here...

I bought some bananas...juice, グミand tupperware...

After that ... We did some shopping at London Drugs and then we went to Metrotown in Burnaby.
When we got to Metrotown, it was so crowded.  As we walked around the mall, we noticed that Mexx was having a sale.

Grammar:
Everything in the store was on sale. / Everything in the store was 50% off.

Even though I didn't need any new shirts....I bought 6.
And now I have some new shirts with nice LOOOOONG sleeves..

After doing a couple hours of shopping we decided to go for lunch at the "White Spot" on Cambie Street.

My parents recommended that I try the beer at "White Spot".  They said that it was really good. And....

....It was very good.  I recommend that if you go to Vancouver..... Try it!

My father and I ordered the Double Double burger.

Double Double Burger
It is the biggest burger at White Spot. It is a 1/2 lb. (227 grams) burger made with double beef patties, double cheese, lettuce, tomato, Triple "O" sauce & it is topped with double dill pickles.

The burger was served with  creamy coleslaw & ‘endless’ signature fries. (お変わりできる)

It was delicious.

Ayako sensei and my mother ordered the Portobello Provolone Veggie Burger.

Portobello Provolone Veggie Burger
It is a  chargrilled veggie burger made with Provolone cheese, Portobello mushrooms, grilled peppers and zucchini, onions, lettuce & lemon basil. The burger is served on a multigrain bun.

The burger was served with  creamy coleslaw & Sweet Potato Fries.
 It looked very delicious.

After lunch we drove past houses that we used to live in.  They looked very different.

We lived in this house until around 1983?

Then...My family and I moved into this house and we lived here until 2000.
(The fence is new)

Now my parents live in this house

Vancouver Day 4....

Today is December 25th....
Merry Christmas!!

Day 4 already? ... What to do in Vancouver on December 25th?
Well....Most shops are closed on Christmas Day so ... Ayako and I decided to go to Starbuck's to do some work....

Went outside and saw the clouds were back... Welcome to Vancouver...!!

Check out the trees....from the front and....if you look behind you...

you see the same thing.... Vancouver has got trees...!!!!

More trees...

Finally got to Starbuck's on Cambie Street and ordered a grande and Venti sized coffee....

When I ordered our coffees, I forgot that we weren't in Japan.  Sizes in Canada are HUGE!  I can't drink this much coffee...If I did ... I would never be able to sleep again....

Ayako trying to hide behind her coffee?

Looks like fun...So I figured that I would try, too...

After eating in Vancouver for 3 days...I thought that this shirt suited me...

After working at Starbucks for a couple of hours...We went back to my parent's house to help get ready for Christmas dinner...

The table is set and ready to go...

My parents prepared a turkey... It's ready to go....

I just helped by just trying to cut it...

and putting it onto a plate.... Good job??

And for dessert ... We had ...
 Apple pie...

What goes well with apple pie?
Ice cream!
Ice cream goes very well with apple pie.
What do you think?  How many calories are in this slice of pie?

After dinner we got some $$$ from my parent's for boxing day... What to buy tomorrow?

Well... We will have to get up early to get to the sales and...
I'm exhausted... (and still suffering from JETLAG) ...so....
Good Night!

Vancouver...Day 3

Well...On my 3rd day in Vancouver... My father asked if I would like bacon again...
Yes, I would ....but...I decided to eat something healthier.... an orange and a banana...

When we left the house in the morning...I could finally see a little bit of BLUE sky..

I asked my father to take us to Costco... I wanted to check out a bunch of small things...like books....and toys for kids

I bought a Thomas the Tank Engine book and some other small things...

After Costco...We drove to Wendy's for lunch...

I had a Wendy's hamburger for the 1st time in a year.... Oh my God...it was so delicous...

At night...My mother prepared pasta for us...

She made her sauce from scratch...

She also bought a nice bread and made a salad to go with it.

Of course...What goes well with pasta...?
Beer!  Beer goes well with pasta?

My father recommended this beer today...It was very nice but I prefered the beer from a couple of days ago... "The Pyramid beer"

Tomorrow is December 25....What to do?

Vancouver ... Day 2

On Monday morning, my father made us breakfast....
We had....

bacon....

eggs.....

and croissants....

and...of course....What goes well with breakfast?
Coffee in a mug from Nagano goes well with breakfast...

I think that this was the first time for me to have bacon in ...about a year??
I reallly missed bacon..
Breakfast was delicious but I felt very HEAVY afterwards...

I asked my dad to take us to the library to look for some books...

Found a couple of books that I wanted to read....

like .... Indian art, totem poles and Thomas the Tank Engine...??
Thomas is for a couple of Canadian Voice kids...There are a few young kids at school who are just crazy about that train...
I was wondering if these books would suit them...So I decided to check them out

Headed to the mall to bit of shopping...Saw a couple of things that I would like to buy but I think I will wait until Boxing Day...

Here are Ayako and my father outside the mall...Ayako has stayed at my parent's house many times...
My father loves spending time with her ... He always invites her to Vancouver before he invites me....

Vancouver 2013

Well...I arrived in Vancouver on Sunday and I will be spending the next 10 days here.

I don't have any special plans for here this week.  I am just hoping to relax, do some shopping and to get some homework done.
On my first night here, we decided to have pizza for dinner.

We thought about where to go and we decided to try a pizza shop which isn't far from my house...

The restaurant is called " The Flying Wedge"

My father and I decided to order a pizza topped with a lot of meat....

This is the Chicago Classic
It is topped with pepperoni, salami, mushroom, green pepper, cheddar
and FW cheese blend and onions.  It is by request only.

My mother and Ayako sensei ordered the Greek Pizza.  It is topped with black olives, onions, tomatoes, green onions, herbs, feta and a FW cheese blend.

And...What goes well with pizza?
Beer!
Beer goes well with pizza.

As you can see...My parents recommended that I try one of their "special" beers.

My father recommended the Pyramid beer.

My mother recommended this Shock-Top beer.
They were both very nice but I liked my father's recommendation a bit better.

The pizza was great...The best pizza that I have had in a long time...
Next time I come back to Vancouver...I will definitely be going back to "Flying Wedge"
