Page 81 of the textbook ~ So, too, neither, either
In this section we will practice expressing positive and negative opinions. I will introduce ways to show agreement when using the adverbs so and too in positive responses and neither and either in negative responses. Don't worry, this section can be tricky for Japanese students.....We will practice over the next few weeks.
*"I am single." "So am I. / I am, too."
*"I can go out this weekend." "So can I. / I can, too"
*"I like natto." "So do I. / I do, too"
*"I will get married this year!" "So will I! / I will, too!"
*"I am not married." "Neither am I. / I am not either."
*"I can't go out this weekend." "Neither can I. / I can't either."
*"I don't like natto." "Neither do I. / I don't either."
*"I will get married this year!" "So will I! / I will, too!"
*"I'm not American." "You aren't? I am."
*"I like to eat tofu." "Do you really? I don't."
*"I can ski really well." "Can you? I can't"
*"I have lived in Canada." "Have you? I haven't"
*"I am going to go to the gym tonight." "Are you? I am not."
