New Canadian Voice ~ October 23

We went by the new Canadian Voice today for "上棟”。。。

Just before we got there it started to rain really hard....
The workers were going to call it a day but ... even though it was raining they went back to work and put on a show for us....

I was really impressed...the workers all worked really hard....

Shimura Vs Manners Vs Koban Vs Text

Well.... for the last few days we have talked about:

Good manners

&

Bad manners

It has been pretty interesting so far...and many of you had some GREAT answers....

Keep up the good work!

We will look at:

*People's behaviour at a train station

*Listening practice story: "I hate it when people are late"

There are no surprised in this lesson....so...I think this should be a really smooth week...

Halloween Party 2012 ~ October 21st

Yesterday was the Canadian Voice Halloween party.

This year we decided to have the party a little earlier than usual and .. UNFORTUNATELY....many kids had other events on that day so they couldn't come...

I want to say "SORRY!" to the kids who wanted to come but couldn't....

Anyways... For all the kids who did come...We had a lot of fun and played a lot of games together...

*Congratulations to all the winners of BINGO and mini games.....

*After the games we enjoyed McDonald's and snacks while watching some Halloween videos

*And we finished it all off with some Trick-or-Treating....

 I was really happy that little Mari could also join us for the Trick-or-Treating...

I look very serious but I am really smiling...

You can't see my mouth because of the mustache....

The New Canadian Voice....

A little more progress....

We went to the site of the new school a few days ago.  Everything is looking pretty good.
We have to go there again on October 23 for "上棟 建前"...

"Jyoutou" is the ceremonial raising of the main beam of the house.
Traditionally members of the community would gather at the site of the new house and help to raise the beam.

These days however ... they just use a crane.

On that day... I have to prepare a few things for the ceremony:
1. lunch boxes
2. pickles
3. snacks
4. tea
5. "ご祝儀" ~ Which should be between \5,000 ~ \7,500....

I am kinda curious what it will look like....

Shimura Vs Manners

This week we will jump back into the textbook and talk about manners for a few weeks...

The 1st story we will see is about a woman who wants to watch a movie with her boyfriend but there are 3 noisy junior high school boys in the theater....

The woman can't concentrate on the movie so she is getting angrier and angrier...

On the weekend Ayako sensei and I went to Kawanakajima to take a look at the new school.   The foundation is finished and they are starting to put in pipes and stuff....

Shimura on a Plane...& Manner's

Well....This week....The girl next to Shimura orders a coffee from the flight attendant....
When Shimura realizes that drinks are service on the plane, he wants a "FREE" drink, too.

The girl is getting very irritated with Shimura because his manners are so terrible...

So this week ...We will review:
 How to ask for  & order things on the airplane....
 How to use "まだ" =  Still & Yet

And ... We will start:
 The "Manners" section....

New Canadian Voice...

Well...This weekend is a LOOOOONNGGG weekend so we all had time to go and take a look at the new school.  When we got to the site...we saw that the builders had already poured the foundation.

It is still hard to imagine what the school will look like...

Friends...Ross' Teeth

Well....For the 1st time in a long time we take a look at Friends...

Ross wants to make a good 1st impression on a girl so he whitened his teeth...and now his teeth are as bright as the sun ...

There is less than an hour before his date ...What can he do to make his teeth less white?

New Canadian Voice .... in Kawanakajima .....

Yesterday afternoon Ayako and I drove by the site for the new Canadian Voice in KAWANAKAJIMA and....we were very surprised....

They have started building already!!!!  When I saw it, I suddenly felt very excited....

 Kawanakajima.... Get ready because Canadian Voice is coming!!!

Shimura ....Airplane story....

Well... Mikey vs Nick is finished and we see Shimura on the plane again....

First.... Shimura gets "freaked out" by some turbulence (乱気流）... and then he gets curious about free coffee....

We will watch the Shimura lesson for only 30~40 minutes and then we will change back to our special "Game of Life"...

This is a good review lesson for lots of old grammar points... and so far the lesson has gone very smoothly.... good luck!
