Elliot ~ Week 8

Well..Last week everybody did pretty well...
The listening sections are getting better and better...Everyone..keep up the good work!

In this week's lesson ...We saw Elliot drive to the airport to meet his boss.
When he arrived, his boss was angry with him for being late.

But...After Elliot explained that he had called and left a message with the secretary, Neil got angry with his secretary instead.

After Neil finished scolding his secretary, Elliot offered to take his boss to the building site.
However, his boss refused to go after he heard that it was a 2 hour drive.

Our story finished inside the plane with Elliot trying to explain to his boss that they will finish building the houses by March.

Next...Week 9....

Elliot 2012...

Well...In this week's Elliot story there was a large section about telephone conversations.
Elliot called his boss to tell him that he would be late for their meeting.

When he called his boss' office, his boss was not in  and so Elliot wanted to leave 2 messages.
We took a look at how to leave messages and how to take messages.
Everyone did a good job....

PS.
REMEMBER.....!!!!
*DON'T WORRY IF YOU CAN'T CATCH EVERYTHING THAT ELLIOT SAYS....
YOU DON'T HAVE TO CATCH 100%...
*KEEP TRYING & KEEP WORKING HARD.....
*DON'T LOSE CONFIDENCE....

There is a lot of natural English and slang in this section which is hard for everybody to catch.
I think that everyone's listening is gradually getting better and better and many students are even starting to catch more of the slang words.

Keep studying hard and I will see you soon....

Valentine's Day...

Well...Today was Valentine's Day...How many chocolates did you get?

A handmade chocolate and a note from Senri....
Thanks Senri!
Senri said "Chris sensei のチョコはいちばん豪華"

Thank you to all the student's who gave me something today .... I am glad that you remembered me....

After most students gave me chocolates today they said right away…

“kore wa giri dayo!” “honmei ja nai yo!”….

So… I have to remember not to get too excited when I get chocolates from Japanese girls on Valentine’s Day…

The "Giri-choko” are obligation chocolates.

"Giri-choko" is the chocolate given to men such as bosses, co-workers, friends, OR TEACHERS that women have NO romantic interest in.  The women give them just to show their friendship or appreciation.

Thank you for teaching us English Chris = "giri choco"

The concept of “giri” is very Japanese.

Japanese people feel that if someone does something for you, then you should do something for that person.

I guess it is like “give and take”?

Which mean$ I have to give candie$ to girls who gave candie$ to mean today…..

$$$$$Expensive!$$$$$

But....I guess on the positive side…. Since I get less and less chocolate....Valentine’s Day is getting cheaper and cheaper for me every year!

I'm so happy?

The chocolates that I would like to get (one day) are "Honmei-choko."

"Honmei-choko" are the “true love" chocolates.

Women give "Honmei-choko" chocolates to the person that they like or love.

Does that mean that nobody loves me…How depressing!

Well…I guess I will have to wait another year to see if I will get any "True Love Chocolates" …….

"来年かな?”

A handmade chocolate and a note from Kurumi....
Thanks Kurumi!
